06 - NKT Anti-Drug Club
As per the Direction of Government of Tamil Nadu, Our College inaugurated the NKT Anti-Drug Club on 09th September 2024 to educate students on the dangers of drug use and to promote health and awareness for a drug-free environment.
NKT Anti-Drug Club plays a vital role in promoting awareness, prevention, and support related to substance abuse. The Club organises Seminars and Guest lectures by inviting experts like Doctors, Psychologists and persons involved in drugs control to talk about the dangers of drug use. It conducts Poster and Slogan Competitions, organizes Street Plays and Skits to create awareness and encourages creativity of students for development of anti-drug themes and programmes.
Objectives of Anti-Drug Club
- To Raise Awareness: Educate students about the harmful effects of drug abuse on physical, mental, and social health.
- To Prevent Substance Abuse: Promote a drug-free lifestyle and discourage experimentation and usage of drugs among youth.
- To Build a Supportive Environment: Create a safe and open atmosphere where students can seek help without fear or judgment.
- To Empower Students: Develop life skills such as decision-making, self-esteem, and stress management to resist peer pressure.
- To Identify and Help At-Risk Students: Recognize early signs of drug abuse and connect affected students with counselling or rehabilitation services.
- To Engage the College Community: Involve faculty, parents, and local authorities in collaborative anti-drug initiatives.
- To Foster Social Responsibility: Instill a sense of duty in students to contribute to a drug-free society and influence peers positively.
- To Encourage Student Leadership: Provide leadership and volunteering opportunities for students to plan and execute awareness campaigns.
- To Collaborate with Health Agencies and NGOs: Partner with external organizations for training, workshops, and support services.
- To Promote Sustainable Change: Encourage long-term behavior change through continuous education and community-based interventions.
